L’approche était avant tout artistique: découvrir la beauté dans ce qui semble en être dénué en captant les lignes graphiques, les couleurs et les textures d’un monde en apparence figé dans un autre temps. Au fil du travail, le sentiment de poser un geste plus large s’est imposé. Au-delà des considérations esthétiques, les trois parties du projet ont permis de révéler le caractère résolument documentaire, anthropologique et sociologique de cette aventure. »
« Gaspésie human less is a photographic project in three parts, born of the complementary outlooks of artists Guillaume D. Cyr and Yana Ouellet.
The inspiration for this exploration stemmed from Guillaume D. Cyr’s desire to undertake a visual research of his native region. The approach, above all, was artistic: to discover beauty where it seems to be lacking by capturing the graphic lines, colours and textures of a world appearing to be frozen in time. Over time, the feeling to be making a broader gesture became apparent. Beyond aesthetic considerations, the three parts of the project bring to light the documentary, anthropological and sociological aspects of this adventure.
The photographic styles of the two artists, easily distinguishable from the outset, are combined in the second part and completely united by the end of the trilogy. »
